I keep thinking that the range of influences on the interspirituality movement make it almost mandatory for its leaders and voices today to be well-read on the general subject of religion, of its history, of its influence on culture, of its psychology, of its common ground or core or center as found in all the world's traditions.

• The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World's Religions

• American Gospel: God, the Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation, by Jon Meacham
