Subject: News 22 - Spirit of the Center

Our Alliance project as it has emerged over the past few months has concentrated on a collective process of discovery.

Inspired by our instincts and years of experience and study, we have begun to form a "collaborative vision of alignment" -- a concept of personal and communal guidance that is reinforced by intuitive imagery of wholeness and oneness from all cultures and historical contexts.

COLLECTIVE DISCOVERY AND COALESCENCE

We are coalescing a vision of center -- of a centered axial force that interconnects everything in the world, that aligns the human spirit in truth and virtue, and unifies the full breadth of the human family.

This vision is exemplified in sacred symbolism, and appears in a clear way on the national flag of India, where the 24 "spokes" of the "Wheel of Ashoka" (the "Ashoka Chakra") are associated with particular virtues.

Wikipedia lists the meaning of its 24 spokes.

SPIRIT OF THE CENTER

This vision of center is seen by brilliant far-seeing scholars and mystics as an essential key to the "transcendent unity of religions" -- to the unity of spiritual traditions -- and to the unity of the Interspiritual movement.

The spokes are like bridges from the Many to the One -- extending from diversity and difference ("the empirical and local") into unity and similarity ("the transcendent and global").

Will we find the strength and courage and imagination in 2014 to fully unfold the unifying implications of this classical vision?

This interesting article on the flag of India suggests how this might happen. Each in our own way -- let us follow our "Dharma" in this coming year, as we reach towards a full expression and blossoming of this ancient and so very modern vision.

"Returning to the Centre means to overcome the apparent contradictions between the extremes and rediscover the harmony within oneself and with the outer world. The harmony is nothing but the reflection of the principial Unity within the diversity of the manifested world. To reach it, one must follow the “Dharma”, source of the essential nature of all manifested beings."
