“We must always be grounded in love, but insist that the circle of our love keep widening until nobody is left outside. We want a world where God’s peace is released into the world, and we become the channels through which this can happen.”
- Dr. Omid Safi, RFPUSA webinar, October 27, 2014

In my world, there were a couple of interesting interfaith events in the last couple of days.

The first was an organizing meeting of CLUE -- "Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice" -- where something like 50 Santa Barbara spirit and religion leaders showed up to work on the next phases of their collective activism. It was exciting to be in that group, and I met some friends I hadn't seen in years. I felt wonderfully comfortable in that group.

And then yesterday, Religions for Peace USA sponsored a "webinar" on ISIS and the issue of building an enlightened national and international conversation on this critical subject. That, too, was inspiring, and felt important.

I think where this is all going for me right now -- is towards this new kind of tag-based organizing, where the objectives are

1) get absolutely everything of concern on the table

2) identify common ground among all the participants

Let's lay off the complex intellectual philosophy -- and let's dig into the critical question of collaboration and collective action.

This is something we have to DO.

And yes, maybe something we have to BE.

But the deal is -- put the pieces together. And that involves finding the pieces.

So, one thing I think I am learning -- is that this very broad "tagging" project should probably begin with spirit-based faith-based center. Yes, there are a thousand other issues -- sustainability, climate change, environment, economics -- but let's approach them all from a spirit-led central core.

So, I am guessing that this is what will happen to me. I will hone this interface down to its simplest form, and start contacting people -- here in Santa Barbara, and around the national and international interfaith environment.

Get hundreds of these tags floating in a big soft cloud of intention and value, and don't get hung up on any one thing. Go with resonance and the big picture.

Here's something I posted to Facebook yesterday, following the webinar. I tweeted this to a couple of the webinar participants, and it got "favorited" and re-tweeted. This is a simple but powerful big-picture portrayal of what millions of us want to do.
